Community Information

Recreating along the James River and the parks in it's vicinity, such as Belle Island, Chimborazoo, Petronius Jones and Byrd Park area common past time for our community. These parks are a popular place to meet up with friends and often host farmer's markets and other events. The Carytown commercial district is a popular place for our community to shop and eat.

Our community is grappling with our long history and entanglement with the confederacy as well as Richmond's role in the slave trade. Our community is strongly invested in dismantling false narratives and moving away from Jim Crow era monuments and story-telling.

Richmond is unfortunately, very economically and racially segregated. It would be very easy to carve the Richmond metro area into multiple districts that "just so happen" to divide citizens by race. Any district borders that split Richmond, Henrico county and northern Chesterfield county into more than one district would be highly suspect and would split up a community.
