There are also many Asian American-serving organizations in neighboring areas, such as Andersonville and Uptown.

Diverse communities like ours is made up of various ethnicity, religious groups, languages, and economic backgrounds. Though we all get along and enjoy learning from each others culture.
Community Activities and Services
Our community is a very diverse, and we gather throughout our community, such as in our parks, libraries, shopping, schools, place of worship, coffee shops, along our city streets. Everyone is friendly. Our services include, healthcare services, public transportation, schools, emergency assistance.
Economic or Environmental Interests
Our community has various businesses that surround us, as well as close by public transportation. The White Sox Team is within walking distance to enjoy. The organization always donates to the community.
Community Needs and Concerns
Our community is very concerned over the loss of what makes up our neighborhood. Cutting up the community because culture and race isn't a reason to remap if you want people to learn to get along. Our community gets along beautifully and we respect each other. We as a community learn and strengthen each other by sharing and educating ourselves. We have to stop cutting the pie because of culture or language, we know when we move into a neighborhood what the population is. These aldermanic positions are over rated and remapping causes boundaries.

Community Activities and Services
My community of interest is the Bridgeport/Chinatown area of Chicago. It's defined by more than one activity and service, including schools, local businesses, and parks, as well as infrastructure (river, highways, public transit) which define boundaries and movement in and out of the community.
Economic or Environmental Interests
In my experience, this is the most compelling parameter defining our community, which -- along with other south and southwest Chicago -- suffers from significant environmental and health problems attributable to misguided development and environmental racism. No matter where you look -- tree canopy, lead poisoning, asthma, housing quality and affordability, access to green space, etc. -- we are not getting our fair share of resources to address these issues. This is attributable, in part to our alderman, who focuses his efforts on the economic interests of his cronies, even if it harms his other constituents.

Cultural or Historical Interests
Originally a series of historic residential neighborhoods: Printer's Row, Dearborn Park, Historic Michigan Avenue, Museum Campus, Prairie District, Ickes Homes, and Motor Row, much of the South Loop was abandoned by "urban removal" (instead of urban renewal). Over the past half-century, historic buildings were converted into "urban pioneer" condominiums. These are now being joined by new high-rise construction which is filling up the South Loop from North to South.
Community Activities and Services
Chicago's South Loop is home to many people who work in the "Loop" central business district. The South Loop is unique among the greater Loop neighborhoods with more historic or traditional housing and gathering places. It feels quieter, friendlier, and more diverse.
Community Needs and Concerns
The South Loop is One Community nestled in between the Loop, Lake Michigan, the Chicago River, and the Stevenson Expressway. It sees itself as more residential than the Loop commercial district to the north and more akin to the residential communities to the south and west: Douglas, Chinatown, and Little Italy. It includes many transportation hubs, serving residents, commuters, and tourists - which also makes it a target for minor crime. Residents are proud of continued population growth but anxious about uncontrolled real estate development.

The Edgebrook Community Association (ECA) is our area's local homeowner organization that enjoys a long history that began back in the 1940s, when many of the homes in our area were just being built. Surrounded by forest preserves, this corner of the city has a reputation for "suburban living in the city", while offering quick access to all the museums, theatres, and shopping experiences of the City of Chicago! The ECA encourages a community spirit among our residents, while seeking to assist with the maintenance and improvement of some of the public property and services in the community. To keep our local area looking its best, the ECA actively supports and manages the maintenance.
Community Needs and Concerns
To stay in touch with the City of Chicago, members of our board interface with the Alderman's offices and the forest preserve officials that serve our community, to highlight things that require attention and voice our concerns on city zoning issues and other city-related topics. Our Edgebrook Community is in two City of Chicago Wards - 39th and 41st. This divides our small (but important) business district. Many members of our Community want to see this area grow. We are not truly represented equally by being in two different Wards of the City.

Arlington Park, I guess, though that's going out of business.
Economic or Environmental Interests
We are a part of the growing suburbs around Chicago and the Golden Corridor of business. Our economic growth unites the northwest suburbs and makes us a community of interest. We want a fair and equitable Illinois that actually grows, not shrinks in population.
Community Needs and Concerns
Keeping our state districts compact around our areas, hopefully without splitting towns, would probably be best. I expect to hear from people running in Arlington Heights or surrounding areas like Barrington or Wheeling. Actually, with our congressional districts, I think the 6th, 8th, 9th, and 10th could use a good redraw. Have a district go along the Golden Corridor, to represent our economic unity.

South Loop
April 2, 2021
Population: 40946
Cultural or Historical Interests
There are many historic districts within the South Loop (Printers Row, Dearborn Park, Michigan Ave, Museum Campus, Prairie District, Motor Row)
Community Activities and Services
The South Loop has more ethnic diversity than neighboring communities (Bronzeville, China Town, Little Italy) but a higher average income level. It has the second highest concentration of university students in the US. New residential development is typically high-rise buildings.
Economic or Environmental Interests
My "South Loop" community is completely bordered by Lake Michigan, Chicago River, and Stevenson Expressway. To its immediate north is Chicago's "Loop" Business District and where many South Loop residents work. Even though Chicago is loosing population, the South Loop's population has tripled since 2000.
Community Needs and Concerns
After the 2010 Census, South Loop was split up into small additions to the surrounding gerrymandered political city, county, and state districts (my state assembly district is 9 miles long and 4 blocks wide). If the entire South Loop was kept together, it would constitute 1/3 of a ward, 1/6 of a state assembly district, and 1/12 of a state senate district. This would provide us with an identity and a voice. We would also help integrate surrounding districts.

Economic or Environmental Interests
My community is robust! it features access to the Greenline, the university of Chicago, and is walking distance to Museums, parks & the lakefront. However there isn't a bank or a fitness center in the entire neighborhood.
Community Needs and Concerns
We need more businesses. There isn't a bank in the ward, that means limited development, limited loans and desolate areas where a thriving community is growing but stunted by a lack of loans.

A common thread running through Bridgeport's history is of old Irish immigrant families coming to Chicago and establishing their presence here. Sport is a common theme uniting the neighborhood, as the Chicago White Sox stadium is in the neighborhood, and the Chicago Bears stadium is only a couple of miles away.
Community Activities and Services
Many of the families have one or more Chicago Police officers, and the neighborhood has longstanding ties to the political machine in the area. Families such as the Daley family are based here in Bridgeport. There are also many churches in the area, each with a devout congregation.
Economic or Environmental Interests
This is a community bounded by clear boundaries on several sides; primarily the interstate to the east and north, the river to the west, and a large industrial area to the south, define the community of Bridgeport in Chicago. The community is primarily working class, with a lot of industry in and around the neighborhood.
