My COI is the Greater New Brunswick area. Hamilton St and Eastern Ave are the main corridor, which includes many businesses that serve the area.The walkable parts of downtown and the New Brunswick arts and restaurants are a gathering point. The Rutgers campus and students are part of the community, including Piscataway campus housing. Community activities are often conducted in Rutgers Piscataway buildings and sports venues. RWJ and St. Peter's hospitals in New Brunswick are important and there are active retirement communities.
In my community, there is a large Black community, growing African community, diverse and growing Latinx community, and diverse Asian communities.These diverse cultures united through common interests. We also have diverse worship options: Franklin has a road it calls Interfaith Way.
You can find white collar businesses like J&J and Rutgers Cancer Institute, and blue collar jobs including the new large scale FedEx and Amazon warehouses. There are several common interests: how to economically provide community services, affordable housing, addressing homelessness, bolstering public transit.
