When drawing a map with Representable, you are asked a series of questions in different categories. We've repeated the questions below.
Use these questions to think more about how you would describe your community...
- Where do people in your community gather or socialize?
- How and where does your community access services (healthcare, transportation, educational services, etc.)?
Examples of activities and services: Shopping areas, schools and universities, libraries, parks, lakes, rivers, places of worship, healthcare services, public transport, local nonprofit organizations, etc.
Your response: In the Green Valley Ranch (GVR) Community to socialize we go to the following places:
1. GVR Recreation Center to exercise, play cards and Scrabble, Farmer"s Market, free outdoor concerts and outdoor movies, and community meetings
2. Golf Course..Play golf. Eberts for the Autumn Festival, Enclave for swimming, Fireworks display
3. Denver School of Science and Technology (DSST) of Denver Public Schools for community meetings
4. GVR East Park on Jebel
Use these questions to think more about how you would describe your community...
- What are the cultural bonds in your community?
- If your community has a shared history, what is it?
Examples of cultural or historical interests: Religious groups, ethnic groups, languages, age groups, immigration status, historic or arts districts, etc.
Your response: Basically there are no cultural or historical interest that I am aware of in GVR. However, in close proximity you will find the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center, DIA and the Panasonic Enterprise Solution .
GVR is a very diverse community in all aspects of life. Most of the residents actually work outside the area. The Golf course, DIA and the Gaylord contributes to tourism in the area. The environmental interest are basically the same as for everywhere else (global warming, climate change, over population, water and air pollution, and waste disposal.
Use these questions to think more about how you would describe your community... - Where are residents employed? - If there are environmental concerns in your community, what are they?
Examples of economic or environmental interests: Tourism industry, agricultural workers, mining town, manufacturing center, polluted natural resource, unemployment problem, etc.
Your response: Services are accessed from: GVR Library, shopping area surrounding King Sooper, SCl Health, UCHealth Primary Care,GVR Medical Urgent Care,Verizon , and Family health care.
Unless you have a car or utilize Uber,Lyft or someone to to take you Transportation is poor. RTD service is very poor in terms of routes, times, connections , and places to sit or covered areas while you wait for a bus.
There is a need for a brick and mortal US Postal Service (USPS) in GVR, the United Parcel Service (UPS) Store with its 2-3 staff tries to handle its work plus the activities of USPS. Waits and long lines. Otherwise, the closest USPS is in Montbello.
Use these questions to think more about how you would describe your community...
- What should politicians and/or map drawers know about your community?
- What are the needs of your community?
- Is there anything else you want to tell us about your community?
Examples of needs or concerns: Keep community in the same district or separate into multiple districts, shared policy concerns, need for a social service, relationship to other nearby communities, issues with current district lines
Your response: This Community needs it own post office, one that is located in the 80249 zip code.
This community needs a full service public (non-medical) Senior Citizens Center like a hub that is open 7 days a week with games, music, the arts, a coffee shop and etc.
This community needs some social places that youth can go to have fun and socialize. ( ex. skating rink, theatre, the arts, bowling alley and things of that sort.
This community should be kept in the same district it is in, with the same precints
