Community Information

LGBT+ housing diversity education environment

My community is made up of people whose kids go to schools in north Durham. We meet at Locopops and CocoaCinnamon, and the main and north branch libraries. Most of us use the same two doctors' offices. Pre-pandemic, we gathered around a grassroots community service organization near Guess and I-85.

My community is made up of families who came together/brought children into the family in less conventional ways. The women especially have all experienced various kinds of infertility or pregnancy loss. Lots of us have adopted and foster kids in our families. Many of our families are multi-racial.

A lot of us are teachers. Most of us are on tight budgets. We live near the Eno and aren't happy about the super-wealthy developments near there.

I don't feel like the current voting districts have any real connection to any of the neighborhoods or communities we live in.
