My community is centered around the River Walk which serves as an important communal resource. It is the location of a regular farmers' market and many other events that occur there, such as gatherings, as well as have public services like a boat landing, playgrounds and green space. There is no public transportation in the area.
My community is centered around Hopewell, Prince George, Petersburg, and Colonial Heights but somewhat in between traditional neighborhoods. The population is very diverse to include African American, Hispanic, Muslim, and Korean.
My community is impacted by the lack of affordable housing. The majority of the residents live in housing units and cannot afford to build or purchase a home in a community. This threatens to push many residents out or make residing here more economical challenging. The residents that can afford to live in the area often move away due to the crime rate.
My community is often split up in redistricting, divided between congressional districts, state house and senate districts, and Hopewell city council and state assembly districts, which dilutes our interests.
