My community is made up, primarily, of people who have moved out of Columbus, GA up north to the cheaper Harris County. Very few people are native residents.
Harris County is rapidly diversifying but is still very much majority white. Many of the first residents to come out to Harris County were "white flight" cases, but now people of color are also moving up to Harris County. Southern and western Harris County is home to the vast majority of new residents while farther north and east most people are natives. Towns like Cataula, northern Forston, and Ellerslie are home to the majority of newcomers such as myself.
With so many people moving into the area, pollution, deforestation, mining farther north, and clean water are major concerns the county does not seem equipped to deal with.
More environmental protections, criminal justice reform, and better access to healthcare facilities so we do not need to drive into Columbus as often. Many people have to travel for miles and well over half an hour for goods and services.
