My community is made of working class people who do our best to take care of our environment. Not only are we concerned about our own families, we are also concerned about each other. We are located within walking distance to downtown Statesboro and many local churches. We are also only a few minutes drive to the local hospital, colleges, and shopping malls. This is a good area to live in. We are now seeing the power of our vote, and we do not want our districts broken up by Redistricting.
There are many historical locations throughout Statesboro. One of note is the past home and first hospital of pioneer physician, Dr. Harvey Van. He was the first Black doctor in Statesboro in 1918.
While at this time there appears to be many jobs available, the pay is not what it should be. Our community needs better paying jobs!
Our community needs a lot of help. Elected officials need to be more visible and create better relationships with community members in order to address their needs. One of the main needs is that of activities for Black children that focus on our rich culture.
