I live within Lone Mountain Rural Neighborhood Preservation area and I would like my community to its rural nature and would like to see the roadway infrastructure multi-modal to accommodate biking, horses, and pedestrians. We enjoy the parks and amenities in the area including Mountain Crest for frisbee golf, Lone Mountain Regional park for trails, and dog parks. I do live in a small HOA.
The community feels like a preservation of the old wild west. We have zoning for horses and equestrian trails; agriculture and spaces for gardening. My neighborhood is very diverse culturally, racially, and physically challenged. The homes and lots are larger and accommodate multi-generational families. There are many conservative residents too.
The community is a mix of retired individuals, professionals, government workers, and small business owners. There is a higher percentage of people with post-graduate education. There is always an underlying concern of water conservation. Most properties have water smart landscaping. There are concerns of the habitat of wildlife; however there is rat problem in the City sewer system. We do need flood control improvements and assistance with washed out natural shoulders during flash flooding events.
We need better access to affordable healthcare. The nearest hospital is Centennial, MountainView and Summerlin however they are private and not all take insurances. I use my husbands health insurance because the provider network and coverage is better. Our area has a higher rate of domestic violence incidents. I would like to see more affordable housing communities but that would also need better access to health care and paratransit.
