Woodbridge is a parent and student community. There is healthcare reliance on Hackensack, Raritan Bay, and Perth Amboy medical centers. Hospitals are important to my community due to their bilingual (Spanish) programs during COVID, many were in Perth Amboy, Woodbridge, Carteret.There are shared parks, roadways, nonprofits, business districts that residents travel between often. This includes shared arts and cultural festivals, like the Carteret Latino festival and a concert series in Perth Amboy.
There are shared worship houses with Perth Amboy and Sayreville residents. Churches in Woodbridge and Sikh temples in Carteret. District 19 previously elected the first Latino rep to the state legislature. The district provides strong representation for Latino and AAPI communities.
The community is bordered by Arthur Kill River and Raritan Bay, resulting in damage from Hurricane Sandy and continuing flood mitigation concerns. Member of Resilient NJ Raritan River and Bay Communities Collaborative. Infrastructure concerns including plans for ferry operations, which have received state and federal funding to connect Newark, Jersey City, NYC.
Current communities in district 19 have been intact in a single district for 30 years and should stay together. This includes Woodbridge, Perth Amboy, South Amboy, and Carteret.
