Community Information

gentrification housing young white-collar unaffordable

My community was once part of a larger Northside Denver Italian neighborhood. More recently (last 40-50 years) the area became predominantly Latinx. Gentrification, however, has now occurred with the influx of a more affluent white population. Gone are Mexican cantinas and most of the still existing Italian mom & pop restaurants, all now replaced by upscale trattorias, sushi, or other international eating fare.Today's immediate neighborhood is bounded by I-25 to the east, Federal Blvd to the west, 38th Ave to the north, and 26th Ave to the south.
