In Cross Plains likes community activities. We’re proud of our local businesses and natural beauty. We love PTO events at Park Elementary, the Firefighter’s breakfast, and trout days. Our library, municipal pool and parks are favorites. We eat at Reyes, the Bowling Alley, and Culver’s. Nineteen09 is a lovely bit of class with a small town feel.
When the going gets tough, we pitch in to help each other. The tornados that came through, the flooding brought out the best in our community. Someone always has a shop vac, or a chainsaw or extra hands to help others in need. We love Black Earth Creek, Salmo Pond, Rookies. We’re progressive. Our local police are friendly and appreciated. We miss World of Variety and True Value and wish Duluth Trading Company would stop compelling property owners to sell their businesses and build condos instead.
Black Earth Creek and the runnoff area needs to be preserved. We love our bee lawns and are proud to be in the Driftless area.
We need local businesses to thrive. We need places to shop that don’t force us to go into town and patronize big box stores. We are proud of who we are and don’t want to be madison. We wish madison liberals wouldn’t write us off as hicks who don’t care. Progressivism looks different from here. And the unintended consequences of big sweeping policies can be bad for our local economy. Our internet sucks, our cell phone connectivity is terrible. We need a way to get into Madison since that where all of the County’s services are. But we pay taxes on them too. Why do we have to struggle to access them?
