My community is made of rural farmland and factories. There are no central places for our community to gather and interact with each other. Main social gatherings are high school sports and local festivals hosted by the city and county. Our schools are old and almost in a state of disrepair. We need to crepair our infrastructure, build new schools and expand internet services all over our rual county. Access to quality internet services hampers the community from moving forward.
Our rural is steeped with deep cutural roots to jazz, blues, gospel, country and rock and roll. Icons like Tina Turner, SleepyJohn Estes, Rev. Clay Evans, and many more hail from our community.
My community is made up of about 25-30% farmers, 15-20% are employed by the school system, and 45% are factory workers, and 5% are small businesses employing fewer than 10 employees. I am very concerned that we do not have enough diversity of revenue to be able to create a stable way for folks to move into the midle class and beyond. We need to focus on renewable energy products and the recent annoucement of the Blue Oval City by Ford Motor Company and SK Innovatives of South Korea to build a fully carbon neutral plant to build their all alectric F-150 will help address this issue.
We can not continue to disenfrachise votes of color (black, hispancic, etc.), our maps nned to be drawn so that our communities of interest are represented and not cast aside because of their size and makeup of their respective populations. This has resulted in hospital closures, loss of population, and a distrust of elected officials.
