Many residents own and operate small businesses/shops in our communities. Several residents in Cave Creek work outside the Cave Creek area. Carefree has a large retired population and seasonal residents. Water is of great concern environmentally and politically. There are many private wells in the area some of which have run dry and most others have varying levels of arsenic. Water issues exist between Carefree and Cave Creek re: allocation of CAP water and ownership of the water company. See above for tourism.
In Cave Creek and Carefree Republicans outnumber Democrats 3 to 1. Democrats are not in a competitive arena whereby we may potentially elect whom we choose. Alignment of CC and CF with other communities that brings more balance to the distribution of Democratic and Republican voters.
