Our community is made of everyone and anyone who loves the area. We've got one of the most diverse populations in Utah and we love it and want everyone's voice to be heard. Ogden city has a strong community center near 25th street with a beautiful arts community. We have active ability for the community to come together, and there are always events happening to get the community together. We love our parks, and natural resources. We love our community gardens and public spaces. We want to preserve and appreciate our rivers, mountains, and our native plants and animals. We want Ogden to be a safe haven for nature and we want Ogden to continue to move towards being a beautiful city.
Ogden has a long history of community and a strong local economy. We care about everyone in our community, including racial minorities, immigrants, our artists, and everyone who wants to call Ogden home. We deserve to have our voices united. We should not have our voices broken up with rural areas around Ogden. They deserve their own voice, and the city if Ogden deserves it's own unhindered voice. Especially that much of Ogden is more liberal than rural areas, when Ogden is broken up into chunks, it gives the power to rural voices, and takes it away from a whole city that wants to see change. Ogden should not be split into multiple districts. We deserve our own district.
My community utilizes the water from Pineview and we care deeply about the pollution affecting our water supply. We also care about the management of our water and ensuring that it is utilized in a sustainable way for residents and for the ecosystems that depend on the water (i.e. rivers, lakes, etc). We also care about the air quality in our region because we all have to breath the same polluted air. Our lung cancer rates among non-smokers is higher than the national average because of our geography. We care about running our region better than than the nation in regards to air quality because we care about having clean, healthy air for us and our children to breath.
My community cares about having a voice in our democratic system. Ogden has historically been divided into districts that expand far outside into rural communities. This weakens out voice and effectively gives Ogden no ability to express it's desires in a meaningful way. We are a strong community and we deserve to have a strong voice over our area. Rural areas deserve their own vote, and Ogden deserves it's ability to function as a community in regards to redistricting. Ogden deserves to be it's own district to express the desires of our community as a whole. We know our neighbors and love our community and we know what is best for Ogden.
