My community is made up of people that gather at Jonesville Baptist Church where the most people gather at any given time. Added to that is the Tatumville Park, which is used for community events. It is considered a generation thing to keep the park open and flourishing for the community's needs. It is on a regular bus schedule but the majority of residents have private transportation. Preferred Healthcare is accessible via St. Joseph/Candler, Memorial Hosp. and CVS Pharmacy.
My community is basically a Black community that is occupied by ancestors of the original landowner. The area does not have many renters or empty properties. And everybody knows each other. That is a good thing for any community. No visible arts. .
There aren't any economic issues. However, the planned Derenne Avenue /516 Project may have both an economic and environmental impact on residents who live near that area.
There is no visibility of either City or County representatives. We want our lines to be fairly held together to give us the opportunity to vote for leaders who will share our policy concerns, and make themselves available to our community. Presently we are aware of who our current leaders are, but they are not recognizable. And we feel that our community is being left behind when it comes to issues that affect our positive growth.
