University of Richmond, Pony Pasture (the James River), The Village Shopping Center, Carytown, The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital
The immediate surrounding neighborhoods of UR's campus are mainly upper class families. However, as one goes closer to the city of Richmond itself, there is a lot more diversity. For example, Scott's Addition features a lot of breweries and entertainment options. Additionally, The Museum District has more cultural experiences as it is the neighborhood housing the VMFA and the Virginia Museum of History and Culture.
UR's campus promotes the surrounding area to a college town status, and so, a lot of the businesses and restaurants will cater to a lot of the needs of college students. The restaurants and shops in the nearby neighborhood of Carytown are very representative of the economic interests of the community.
There is a high presence of young, liberally minded people within the city of Richmond, whereas in the immediate surrounding neighborhoods of UR's campus there are more upper class families who may have slightly differing views. Within the campus of UR, many students are politically engaged though the campus can sometimes have an apathetic spirit to it.
