Neptune City school district has close relationships/feeds into Neptune Township and Redbank schools, which are in LD11. Parkway map splits Redback into LD13. School-related interests will thus problematically be spread out among 3 different representatives under that configuration.
Growing LGBTQ population.
Neptune City is a working class community with a significant minority population in affordable housing. The City is connected to the ocean via Shark River. Officials and environmental organizations do a lot of work to clean and improve the health of the river. Wall Township has historically opposed environmental reforms Neptune City supports. Sharing LD30 with Wall will prevent these environmental concerns from being addressed.
Proposed Parkway map problematically removes Neptune City from LD11 to LD30, which would be detrimental for the town. Neptune City's interests are more in line with Asbury Park and Neptune Township than with other communities in Parkway LD30. Parkway LD30 leadership may be too focused on Lakewood and other larger areas at the expense of Neptune City's interests. Neptune City has historically been in LD11 and should remain there.
