The UR students usually stay on campus and socialize on campus. Notably, there are a few bars downtown that people tend to go and socialize. For shopping, a lot of students go to the Short Pump center.
The community is made of students, faculty, and staff. It is dominated by young people, and it is a predominantly white institution.
I live in a residence hall on campus. The residents are mostly students, and the dorms are somewhat separated by class. There are some freshman dorms, and others are mixed. I know that some people live off-campus, but are usually very close.
I honestly am not sure what the campus political culture is. I think it is dominated by Democrats. But also, since we have a business school, composed of people from middle/upper-class families, and a big community from the Southern states where tend to be more Republican, I suspect there is a substantial amount of Republicans.
