My community is basically the University of Richmond and its surrounding areas, including the grocery store and restaurant nearby. People within my community gather mostly for classes and other school activities. My community also allows me to have access to education, socialization, libraries, grocery shopping, lakes, healthcare service, public transportation, etc.
There is not a single culture that bounds my community. People in my community do have diverse religious, cultural, ethnic backgrounds. The most common shared interest of the community is probably education.
Most of the people in my community are employed by the University of Richmond. As far as I know, the majority of students in my community are not employed. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, I think one of the biggest environment concerns in my community is the overuse of plastic and paper boxes for food in the dining hall. Even thought the University encourages people to purchase a reusable to-go box for food takeout, there are only a few residents who actually listen and do that.
My community seems liberal and democratic, yet there is a huge portion of republicans on campus and they do not really reveal their political incline in the public. In addition, the Board of Trustees at the University is very conservative and has made a lot of wrong decisions and problematic behaviors when dealing with student of colors in general since March 2021.
