The people in my community are mainly those who go to work every day and those who are retired. Many people here are related to one another in various ways. This is a close knit community and we are happy with the way our district lines presently are. And we do not want our districts broke by the Redistricting process. We want to stay together so we can use the power we have worked so hard to establish.

Both historical and culturally the Old Jenk Hill Store comes to mind. It was named after the road it was situated on. Presently it has been closed for many year. However, its remains stand as a reminder of the White owner, Jenk Newton who invested so much in forming the community. Mr. Newton brought a baseball field to the area for the local you, and also most importantly gave many Blacks their first opportunity to have land ownership.

This rural community has always been of farming. The history is of people making a living by working in the fields picking cotton, plucking tobacco, and performing other various manual labor. Today that work is done by machines. Many residents who still work, travel to surrounding urban areas for employment. Right now there is plenty of work for anyone who wants to do it.

What is really needed is a senior resource center so our elderly can have a place to stay active. Presently, the only senior center is miles away in Sylvania. We need a center that is more accessible. We want to keep our district together so we can keep workinng together to make this type of need a reality.
