Community Information

housing mental health education affordable

My community is surrounded by tons of stores but only one tiny library and a run down community center. We have a few well maintained parks, UOFU greenwood clinic.

My community is a mix of all religions, ethnic groups, age groups. This has just been in the last few years though. It was 20 years ago primarily all white LDS families.

Economical we are East and West, this means, the east all have jobs that pay over minimum wage. The West is primarily Hispanic low income families living in a community of nothing but run down houses and apartments. No community center for these kids to go to, no free mentor-ship programs. Good people working several jobs at low wages while the children are raising the children because they parents can't afford the ridiculous costs of daycare.

We need less freaking store and apartments. Make housing affordable. My house could have easily recently sold for 500-550K. A house I bought 23 years ago for 175k. I couldn't even afford to live in my home and I have what I thought was a good paying job. We need a real community center for the kids, one that has actual activities besides basketball. Mentoring programs, a safe zone. Someone that actually cares.
