My community believes that we share responsibility for not just today, but tomorrow. We help each other to be informed, to participate in the life of the community as deeply as possible, and we seek the diverse representation that reflects our community.
Although our community has its roots and many traditions in small town life, rapid growth and social change produced a city with the diversity and the issues of inequality that come when the scale of an organization or community grows. What was unseen becomes visible. We need to address these changes not as a call to the return of small towns, but a chance to address needs that were already there, but in scale seemed more manageable, or where visible differences did not enhance the divisions.
