My community is made up of people who have lived here for many years. It is now a settled community of many retired individuals. I personally grew up with many of them who I now interact with on a constant basis. Many people gather at the Liberty City Community Center. There are resources for both youth and adults.
My community's shared history is that it was unincorporated area of Savannah. For many the streets were unpaved, and there weren't any street lights and instead of city based utilities, homes used septic tanks. Conditions changed once the community was annexed to the City of Savannah. Stephanie Stokes-Cutter, former City Manager of Savannah came from this community. The City of Savannah's Mayor pro temp lives in this community.
Most of the residents are retired with only a few with full time employment. Those working have are mostly Long Shoremen. Environmentally, flooding is an issue whenever there is a heavy rain. However, a light is greatly needed at Liberty Parkway and Staley Ave.
Mainly the aforementioned traffic light is needed. Also a decent grocery store is greatly needed along with a pharmacy. We want to keep our community together in the Redistricting process so we can be represented by leaders of like mind.
