There a lots of places to meet with family and friends in my community. One of the most popular spots is Prospect Park where you'll always find people day and night walking their dog, running/walking, bird watching, even parting or roller skating. There's even African drumming and other cultural groups who come out to perform ceremonies. Transportation is easily accessible by way of the B35/B15/B41 buses which connects to the B/Q lines of the subway. Places of worship are within reach of transportation where you can find mosques, churches, synagogues and temples. Nonprofit organizations are well known in the community such as CAMBA, Caribbean Women's Health Association.
The community is bonded by it's strong immigrant roots. There are people from countries from almost all over the world within one block. The Brooklyn Children's Museum and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden are just a couple of places of culture and historical interest in the community.
Most residents are employed within the healthcare field as Home Health Aides (HHA), Certified Nurses Aide (CNAs) and License Practical Nurses (LPNs) and social services field such as with the Human Resources Administration (HRA) and Administration of Children Services (ACS) to name a few. Sanitation issues continue to be a main environmental concern within district 9.
Politicians should be aware of the financial background of the community when designating housing and try to provide affordable housing for the majority of people who are not high income earners. The community is experiencing a high level of gentrification which has some nonprofit groups fighting back and working with churches and political figures within the community.
