Santaquin is a city in Utah and Juab counties. It is a small community under 10,000 people. It has limited shopping (with only a small grocery store until just recently). The Santaquin area has approximately 3,600 acres of functioning agricultural farms and businesses.
Most of the community is white (91.54%), speak English, and are LDS. Trails are being constructed for equestrian joy rides, hiking, mountain biking, jogging, and strolling that will link visitors to parks, public lands and amazing valley views. “Orchard Days” are held the last week of July or the first week of August.
The United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), with Santaquin City as the project sponsor, in 2019 proposed to partially fund watershed protection measures through the Watershed Protection and Flood Prevention Act. The work proposed within the Santaquin Watershed include measures to 1) prevent flood damages, 2) further the conservation, development, utilization, and disposal of water, and 3) further the conservation and proper utilization of land.
Recreation facilities in the area include the Little Sahara Recreation Area, Utah Lake, Uintah National Forest and Santaquin Canyon. All of these need to be protected.
