Buckeye began as a argriculture community and continues to have large farms growing vegetables and cotton. We depending and immigrant labor to be successful. We have a large latino population. The area along I 10 is quickly filling up with warehouses. Farm land is sprouting houses and family conmmunities. We are also a bedroom community for people who drive to Phoenix to work everyday. Water is our major enviromental interest. Since Buckeye is a farm community there is concern about how this major economic driver will be impacted by potential water restrictions. Also, the fast growing population may have to be restricted due to lack of water for continued growth.

Our community is closely connected with Verrado and other communites to the East. I 10 makes is easy to travel to these towns for entertainment, dining, churches, parks and recreation. We also share the benefit of community colleges and charter schools. Current district lines divide us from these communites and combine us with Wickenburg with is 60 miles west, and with Yuma which is 150 miles south. We have no community connection with either of these towns . Since our current district, Ld13, is very far west with lots of unoccupied space to the west it makes sense to combine Buckeye and the communites east of us and not spread us out all over the state.
