The VA-11 community of interest is defined as "inside the beltway" of I-495 and its ‘node cities’ just outside it. - I grew up here in elementary school, high school, resided here when at W&M, and taught ten years at Chantilly & Herndon HS before retirement.
Virginians here define themselves by where they went to high school, and where their children and grandchildren attend elementary, middle, and high school. - Along with communities of faith, college & pro football, professional or trade associations, and more recently politics, "school attendance zones" are the primary sources of self-identification here as alums, parents, and PTA members, for sports events, plays and concerts.
