My diverse urban community is made of people who are basically upper middle class workers and students. Living in an apartment complex does not present many opportunities for residents to get to really know each other. Socializing with other residents is not really a part of the apartment way of life because we mainly see each others in passing. We live only minutes away from historic downtown Savannah, Candler/St. Joseph's and Memorial hospitals, And the same goes for being in close proximity to many churches, 2 malls, parks, museums and other amenities. I like my community, and do not want to have it broken apart by Redistricting.
Historical downtown Savannah, which is a favorite of many tourists, is only minutes away with its many restaurants, museums, and other amenities. Also historic Savannah State College is a very short drive away.
Many residents are employed by educational institutions, the City of Savannah, and private industry. Presently, there doesn't seem to be any shortage of jobs in this area. And that is a very good thing.
It would be wonderful to have a park nearby for the many children play. Also a recreation/resource center would further enhance the environment. We want leaders who will take these things into consideration. And I feel that breaking up this district will not accomplish that.
