Clairemont and Saint Michael's Hospitals serve residents in the area. People enjoy Newark Public Library, skating rink, and other services (e.g., rotunda) in the area.
The North Ward community of Newark is a heavily Latinx populated, although there's a sizable African American population as well. The area is very Catholic.
There are many mom and pop stores, bodegas, and too many liquor stores. They are mostly blue collar workers; public transportation (the light rail, Penn Station, buses) very big for people in the area. Ross Street and Bloomfield Ave are a major commercial corridors in the area.
Major issues facing the North Ward are issues with gangs, lack of employment; Food insecurity for residents of the area. Lack of mental health services for residents. There's a need for more affordable housing in the area as well.
