My community is made up of people who live in or near the north central Phoenix mountain preserve. Community activities include hiking, biking, and horseback riding on mountain trails or canals in the area. The mountains and canals provide an ability to live in the center of a major metropolitan community and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the desert mountains and easy transportation access (using SR 51 and major cross streets) to the downtown Phoenix and the rest of the valley for employment, recreation, shopping, and healthcare. The area has many different places of worship to serve residents (e.g., Greek Orthodox, Christian, Jewish, Catholic, Protestant, Buddhist, etc.).
My community recently joined together with City and State leaders to protect the preserve by redirecting a major water pipeline project to avoid damaging the mountains and the ecosystem in the Preserve and also avoided blocking the main street leading into our neighborhood and the Preserve. This effort provided water to North Phoenix while saving substantial costs. There are many beautiful resorts in the area which support the tourism industry.
