My community is made up of people that seem to have been here forever. Many who I call friend, are those who I grew up with and have known their parents and grandparents. Nobody is a stranger here, even if you are a new comer. It is in our hearts to make everybody feel at home. Our main source of socializing is within our church services. Other than that, we do enjoy the occasional country cookout at a neighbor's home. We enjoy one another and we share many of the same values. We are a cohesive unit, and do not want to be broken up in any form by the Redistricting process.
My community has many senior residents ho we take very great pride in knowing. They are a valuable asset to our everyday life. We wish that we could do more for them when it comes to entertainment, and providing resources for them to have a more enjoyable life. However, we have nothing here such as a senior center, or a place where our seniors can get together for activities such as group physical and mental exercise, etc. Many of our seniors have so much more to give, but we have no outlets for them to do so. We need to do more for those whom we treasure.
There aren't any employment opportunities in this community, with the one exception being a fabricating plant that sits along our river. We want jobs, but we do not want to trade that off for the endangerment of our community's main waterway. We believe that is just what our leaders have done.
We need more jobs in our area, and more business opportunities. We also need a healthcare facility that is more easily accessible than what we presently have. We do not want any of our rural communities to be left behind, while leaders focus on the cities. And we want to to be kept together in the redistricting process so that we can keep making noise about all that we feel as being injustices when we pay taxes just like the city dwellers.
