Araby is a semi-affluent community on the east edge of the City of Yuma AZ, on a low bluff overlooking the agricultural plain where the Colorado and Gilla Rivers meet. It's within a mile of a high school, junior high, and two elementary schools, Arizona Western College, and branches of the U of AZ and AZ State and Northern AZ U. Shopping areas are within 7 miles as is the MCAS.
Araby has been a unified community since 1994. English is the primary language although some families speak Spanish as well. Some families are immigrants from Mexico and a few from other countries in Latin American and also Europe. It's a mixed neighborhood with young families and older retired folks, many current or former military.
Keeping the community in the same district would ensure that governmental services are distributed equitably within the community and strengthen the common interest in government.
