Community Information

climate gentrification infrastructure

My community is one of rapid growth and development. With that comes gentrification, development of apartment and condominium complexes, lack of ground cover, and stresses on infrastructure, parking issues, and need for public transportation. The heat index for our area will rise and affect the health of people with asthma, the elderly, the poor, and the very young. We need a strong, reliable electric grid and more public transportation.

My district, district 4, extends to the North Carolina, Virginia border and includes a lot of rural area. It clearly does not represent the needs of downtown Durham and needs to be drawn with other more populous areas so that our concerns about growth and development, infrastructure and climate change are met.
