My community is made of people who live in eastern Paulding county, and often commute to Cobb, southern Cherokee, or Fulton for employment, shopping, and entertainment.
My community is made of varied racial, religious, and ethnic groups. Most residents appear to be employed middle-aged persons with families including children and/or grandchildren. Many of the residents have moved from other places, and do not have a readily apparent shared history.
In the community where I live, most people appear to work outside the county, as there is a significant amount of commuting traffic in the mornings and evenings headed to and from Cobb County. The Wellstar Paulding Hospital serves the area and employs a significant number of people. Aside from a few small businesses, most people employed in the immediate area seem to be in employed in jobs that provide services to people who live nearby and work elsewhere (food service, child care, education, etc.).
Paulding county is currently shifting from a primarily rural county to a suburban county, and there is some flux in the culture here. There is some conflict between the ideals of the long-time residents of the community who lived here before the rapid suburban expansion and newer residents who have often moved to Georgia from other states. The needs of the eastern part of Paulding county (Hiram, Dallas, Acworth) are dramatically different from the needs of the western part of Paulding county (Rockmart and points west). The eastern part of Paulding county would be better aligned with west Cobb. The main needs of the community are education crime/drug prevention and reasonable property taxes.
